Police Dismiss Trigger-happy Cop For Killing Phone Dealer In Delta

Abuja, NIGERIA — The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, has dismissed Inspector Ebri Ubi, for killing a phone dealer, Mr. Onyeka Ibe, along Ugbolu-Illah Road, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright said the dismissed officer would also be charged to court.

In a short e-message by DSP Bright, on Monday April 18th 2023, he said: “INSPR Ubi Ebri has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police force and will be charged to court tomorrow Wednesday 19th April 2023.

Offending officer was reportedly subjected to internal disciplinary measures, including criminal prosecution through a police orderly room trial, since the killing.

Onyeka was shot in the presence of his wife at Ugbolu-Illah Road, on the date as mentioned earlier.

The young man fondly addressed as Onyi, gadget dealer’s life was cut short by the police officer attached to Delta State Police Command, Asaba.

On the day of the incident, youths in the State Capital of Asaba too to the streets to protest against police brutality and demanded for justice for the slain popular phone seller in Asaba.
