Ogbako Ndigbo UK issued the following statement congratulating Prof Ijeoma Uchegbu as the 7th President of Wolfson College Cambridge University, UK.

“Ogbako Ndigbo UK heartily congratulates Professor Ijeoma Uchegbu, a ground-breaking nano scientist on her elected position as the 7th president of Wolfson College, University of Cambridge in United Kingdom.

“Professor Uchegbu is a hardworking, brilliant and seasoned pharmaceutical researcher, has consistently demonstrated relentless efforts in advancing biomedical and scientific research, particularly in the areas of pharmaceutical nanotechnology and nanoparticle drug delivery. Her doggedness, resilience and tenacity in innovative health research and in promoting education in general, aligns with the hardworking nature of Igbo women and indeed, the Igbo nation. She has held various commendable professional positions including pro vice provost for Africa and Middle East while at University College London (UCL) and became the only black British role model in Women Engineering society in 2019.

“As a known name in public engagement, equality & diversity discourses as well as science communication, Prof Uchegbu has set a good standard in international science outreach and in promoting women scientist, an initiative considered as a source of inspiration and encouragement for most women.

“Ogbako Ndigbo UK have continually followed your journey from your days at Strathclyde university as a Chair in drug delivery, through to University College London where you have excelled tremendously in Research, Knowledge Exchange, Enterprise and Leadership, and now to your current position at Wolfson College. Your unwavering competence in science Engineering and technology has never been in doubt, and as such your elected position as the 7th president and first female Black president at the Wolfson College, University of Cambridge did not come as a surprise. You have done so well, and we are very proud of you.

“We wish you more successes in your elated position at the Wolfson College. We believe that you will use your wealth of experience in leadership, innovative science engineering and technology in the development of human capital in your hometown in Eastern Nigeria and in fostering powerful health partnerships with universities and government institutions in Nigeria.
