Uwolo Amaechi Nwaenie, the Uwolo of Ibusa, has warmly congratulated High Chief Charles Ositadinma Okonkwo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Life Guard Limited, on his impending coronation as the Odogwu of Igbuzo.
The historic ceremony is set to take place on 7 February 2026, under the auspices of His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Chelunor Nwaoboshi, the Obuzor of Igbuzo. The Odogwu title is one of the community’s most respected traditional honours, historically reserved for men who demonstrate courage, integrity, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to societal development.
High Chief Okonkwo, according to Uwolo Nwaenie, embodies these qualities. His leadership in business and philanthropy has earned him a reputation for visionary thinking and selfless service, both within Ibusa and across Nigeria. “This coronation recognises not only his personal achievements but also the impact of his dedication to the advancement of his people,” Uwolo Nwaenie said.
The installation of High Chief Okonkwo as Odogwu carries profound cultural significance. It celebrates the values of unity, service, and excellence, while serving as an inspiration for younger generations to pursue leadership and community development with integrity and purpose.
The ceremony will attract sons and daughters of Ibusa, along with friends and well-wishers from across Nigeria and the diaspora, highlighting the enduring respect and admiration held for High Chief Okonkwo. The gathering is expected to be a moment of celebration and reflection on the rich traditions of Igbuzo and the broader Urhobo and Igbo communities.
Uwolo Nwaenie emphasised the symbolic importance of the coronation, noting that it recognises men who combine personal achievement with service to society. “Chief Charles Okonkwo has consistently exemplified strength of character and an uncommon commitment to the welfare of his community,” he said.
On behalf of the people of Ibusa, Uwolo Nwaenie prayed for wisdom, good health, and continued strength for High Chief Okonkwo as he assumes this noble responsibility. He wished him a reign marked by peace, progress, and enduring honour, expressing hope that the Odogwu title would enable him to further contribute to the development and unity of Igbuzo.
