“Sports has grown exponentially and its influence on Nigerian lives is astounding.

“Thousands of people gather in the stadium and other arenas, just to see their athlete participate in a game, in the hopes of a victory.

“Many people schedule their daily routines around these games and are incredibly loyal to their teams, there was no in between. But how can this translate into the political realm of our country? Sports is a unifying streams to bring us together as one people.

“We must continue to build on the power of sports as a tool for peace.

“In promoting our youth through sports and related activities it prevent crimes, violence, drug use, anti-social and risky behaviour and effectively build resilience of our youth,” he concluded.

He appreciated his boss, State Commissioner of Police CP Ari Mohammed Alli, his management team and police officers of Delta State command that sacrifices their time in service to the nation which provided a free crime and enabling environment for the sports festival to have started and completed peacefully.

It would be recalled that throughout the nealy two-week sports Festival in Delta State no crime was recorded as the State Commissioner of Police and his counterparts from other agencies tightened up security around the State.
