Ahead of the 2023 Senatorial elections, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, the Senator representing Enugu East, has affirmed that he remains the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for his district. Nnamani urged his constituents to show their support by casting their votes for him in the upcoming Senatorial election on Saturday.

He also confirmed that his name appears on the final list of senatorial candidates cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the February 25th election.

Nnamani made this statement just four days before the presidential election and National Assembly elections are scheduled to take place.

Recall that Nnamani, was reportedly expelled from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on February 10th, along with some other key party members. The reason cited for the expulsion was allegedly due to anti-party activities.

However, Nnamani has challenged the party’s decision in court, contesting the disciplinary measures taken against him.

Prior to his recent expulsion from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani had openly declared his support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This declaration had led to Nnamani’s initial suspension from the PDP.

Nnamani had however justified his support for Tinubu by stating that he could not support a northerner to become president after the eight-year tenure of the President Muhammadu Buhari.

Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has affirmed that his candidature for the upcoming senatorial election is not threatened nor shaken.

He said, “In Enugu East Senatorial zone, there is no vacancy. Ignore any insinuation to the contrary assuring that he is mentally and psychologically prepared for Saturday’s election.”

He added, “I will be fair and just to all, whatever your interest and concerns will always be my mission and purpose in the senate.”

As the upcoming senatorial election approaches, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has urged his constituents to remain law-abiding and to conduct themselves peacefully during the election
