NIGERIA – Fr. Sende proudly congratulates brother priest, Fr Alla as governorship candidate

"This 2023 election is not, however, about the same old fights between APC and PDP. This election is different. It really is about who we are as Benue people. It’s about millions of Benue people coming together to say: We are better governed by Fr Alla.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: ‘I’ve always been willing to take the consequences of speaking my mind’

Kenneth Okonkwo And His Bitter Politics

It was a day that began with hope and ended with shock. May 26th 2022 will be ingrained in people’s minds for generations to come. The day Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia jproved all political pundits, and pollsters wrong and spread much shock, and a lot of alarm, across the planet, while delighting his supporters

Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev Fr Alla was declared winner of his party’s primaries to become Benue State Governorship flag-bearer of a major political party in Nigeria, All Progressive Party

Speaking to TimeAfrica after winning the primaries, Very Rev Fr Elijah Send IMAC who is a volunteers coordinator connected the moment to generations of people who yearn for good governance and equity.

According to Ft Sende, “As a priest what I care about most is the history our country has yet to write. Our children and grandchildren will look back at this time, at the choices we are about to make, the goals we will strive for, the principles we will live by. And we need to make sure that they can be proud of us.”

“I thank the good people of Benue all the volunteers, we’ve reached a milestone – the second time in our nation’s history that a priest will be major party’s flag-bearer for State Governor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The victory of Fr Alla is not about one person. It belongs to generations who struggled and sacrificed and made this moment possible. As priest we have to go beyond preaching gospel to taken political leadership to alleviate poverty of our people and ensure prudence in governance.

“I want to thank all the volunteers, community leaders, the activists, and organizers who supported our campaign for Fr Alla to come in and repair the system of governance for our people.

“I want to congratulate my brother priest, Fr. Alla for the extraordinary campaign he has run. He has spent his long career as a priest fighting for progressive causes and principles, and he’s excited millions of voters, especially young people. And let there be no mistake: The manifesto and the vigorous debate that we have had about how to reduce inequality, eradicate poverty, upward education, ensure security of our people and infrastructural development have been very good and robust-full.

“This 2023 election is not, however, about the same old fights between APC and PDP. This election is different. It really is about who we are as Benue people. It’s about millions of Benue people coming together to say: We are better governed by Fr Alla.

“And if you agree – whether you are APC, PDP or independent – I hope you will join us

“The end of the primaries is only the beginning of the work we are called to do. But if we stand together, we will rise together, because we are stronger together. Let’s go out and make that case to Benue people,” he concluded.

He assured of Fr Alla victory at the general election.
