The Director of Procurement, NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Mr. Jimba Olawole Christ, has urged corps members to embrace skill acquisition and make the most of the in-camp SAED training.

He made this call during his official visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area, Benue State.

Welcoming the Director, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Garba Veronica described the camp as his “second home” and expressed gratitude for his presence. She encouraged corps members to see the training as a foundation for self-discipline and national service.

She reported that the 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members were formally sworn in on June 13, 2025, with the ceremony officiated by the Chief Judge of Benue State, ably represented by Hon. Justice J.N. Adagba. A total of 1,447 corps members were registered, 769 males and 678 females. She proudly commended their good conduct and adaptability to the regimented camp routine. Appreciation was also extended to camp officials, whom she described as dependable and efficient in supporting her to discharge her duties seamlessly.

Taking the stage, Mr. Jimba expressed deep appreciation to the State Coordinator and camp officials for their commitment and discipline, noting that it was visibly reflected in the camp’s orderliness and the comportment of corps members. He reminisced about earlier years when the Wannune camp struggled with infrastructure and commended the improvements made under the leadership of Mrs. Garba.

He emphasized the importance of discipline, urging corps members to uphold it both during and after their service year, wherever they find themselves.

Speaking further on the significance of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), Mr. Jimba urged the corps members to embrace the values they’ve learned in camp, especially discipline, and to take skill acquisition seriously. He reminded them that the world now thrives on what individuals can do with their hands. “Whether you remain in Benue or not, I encourage you to think of how to apply what you’ve learned here to help move Nigeria forward,” he said.

On behalf of all corps members, the Camp Director for the second week, Basira Kasimu,,BN/25A1679 gave the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the Director’s visit and words of encouragement.

Highlights of the visit was a vibrant Tiv cultural dance. A tour of the camp clinic, and the presentation of gifts to various groups in the camp in appreciation of their preparations and hospitality.
