Today, August 27, 2025, Abians at home and in the diaspora rise in unity, pride, and thanksgiving as we celebrate the 34th anniversary of the creation of God’s Own State. It is a historic day that rekindles the resilient spirit of our people, a day that reminds us of the sacrifices of our founding fathers and the enduring hope that birthed Abia on August 27, 1991.

For 34 years, Abia has traveled through diverse phases, years of trials, years of setbacks, and years when our potential seemed buried under the weight of bad governance. But Abians, known for their indomitable spirit, never lost faith. Like the eagle, we have soared above adversity. Like the lion, we have roared against oppression. And today, under a new dawn of purposeful leadership, we are rising to reclaim our destiny.

This anniversary is not just a commemoration of the past; it is a bold declaration of the future. Abia is no longer a sleeping giant shackled by neglect. Abia is awake, marching confidently on the path of good governance, transparency, innovation, and infrastructural renewal.

From Umuahia to Aba, from Ohafia to Ukwa, a new Abia is emerging. Our roads are being reconstructed, our schools are being revitalized, our hospitals are being transformed, and our youths are being empowered to dream and achieve. Abia is no longer a story of wasted opportunities, bad governance, dilapidated road Infrastructure or dirty environment, it is now a living testimony of rebirth.

As Abians, we must wear this anniversary like a badge of honor. We are a people richly blessed with culture, intelligence, creativity, and courage. Our entrepreneurs dominate markets across Africa. Our intellectuals continue to shine on the global stage. Our artisans in Aba are proving that with support and vision, Abia can be the industrial hub of Nigeria and beyond.

At 34, we are not just celebrating history, we are making history. We are reclaiming the dreams of our founding fathers. We are building a land where justice prevails, where governance works for the people, and where every child has the chance to flourish.

Let every Abian today stand tall and proclaim: “The era of darkness is gone. The era of light has come. Abia shall rise and never fall again!”

Happy 34th Anniversary, God’s Own State.

Happy 34th Anniversary, beloved Abians.

The journey has begun, and the future is glorious!
