Enugu, NIGERIA — The Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has again shaded the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi in the most spectacular way, though he didn’t mention him by name during a scathing speech, instead insisted that “everyone involved in the closure of Adoration Ministry for 7 months” must iterate deep sense of pain and remorse to implore God’s forgiveness, healing and reconciliation.

Submitting, “you come and emned what you spoilt,” offer concrete actions to repair the pains and suffering inflicted on the ministry, “you will never win anything.”

“Even the one you plan to embark on; if you like go to court, the wound you caused must be healed spiritually and until that is done, you are wasting your time” , he added in an arch reference to Obi heading to court to challenge the election.

The controversial Catholic Priest made the statement when the Enugu State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Uche Nnaji, paid him a visit.

Mbaka used the opportunity to denounce the Labour Presidential Candidate and managed to coolly do so without even mentioning Obi’s name

If Kemi Badenoch carries on like this, she’ll be elected Prime Minister

It would be recalled that Mr Peter Obi lost the February 25 presidential election in the ‘worse rigged” election and he is headed to court to sought to overturn the result. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was announced the winner.

Recall that the priest had during one of adoration programmes last year declared that Obi would never rule Nigeriaz insisting that it was better to have an old man as President than a ‘stingy young man’.

He said, “A stingy man, that cannot give people his money, with this hunger ravaging the land, and you are saying he is the one you want. You want to die of hunger? Are you people insane? Where is the Holy Spirit?

“It is now that Atiku is seriously contesting for President; now that he is contesting without Peter Obi; it is now that he is serious? We want somebody that is serious. Unless Peter comes here to kneel, if he becomes President, he will close down this ministry. What we are doing is spiritual,

“Listen, a good old man is better than a young wicked man; Peter Obi is going nowhere as far as God lives. If Igbos want a representative, it is not someone like Peter Obi.

“I should not have talked but I saw my video going round everywhere as if Fr. Mbaka wholeheartedly came out and apologized. No, I didn’t apologize wholeheartedly, it was out of duress. I had to obey my Bishop, in obedience I had to, it is not of my volition. I did it because I am a Catholic Priest, my Bishop said, do it, my own is ‘Yes my Lord’.

The outburst did not go down well with many Nigerians, especially the youths who had fallen in love Obi’s candidature as they recommended appropriate sanctions be given to him.

That was not the first time Mbaka is hitting Obi. He also verbally attacked Obi during the 2019 election.

In turn, Bishop Callistus Onaga of the Enugu Catholic Diocese shutdown the ministry in June 2022 and other Fr Mbaka to proceed on self retreat. The vocal priest had just returned.
