An Open Letter to Mr. Peter Obi

It is with a mixed feeling that I write this letter to Sir Peter Obi (Okwute Ndi-Igbo), who by all standards is the hope of Ndi-Igbo in the contemporary political dispensation of Nigeria.

I am writing to a man who singlehandedly stopped Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from achieving his lifelong ambition of becoming the President of Nigeria.

I am writing a man whom without any structure, no Governor, no Senator or Rep Member scored over 6 million votes in 2023 General election.

I am writing to a man who commanded an army of ordinary and poor Nigerians without mobilizing them with money (he no dey give shishi), yet they almost conquered in a war where naira, pounds and dollars rained.

Wike condemns the idea of Peter Obi’s return to the PDP as dangerous

I am writing to a man who shuts down any event with his presence irrespective of who is standing on the podium whenever he enters.

I am writing to a political demigod of modern Nigeria; a demagogue who understands the yearnings of Nigerians.

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!

As a member of young Nigerians who want Nigeria to be fixed for the interest of my generation and generations unborn, it is my earnest prayer that Peter Obi succeeds.

It is an imperative duty for me to also ask myself some basic and pertinent questions;

1. Will Peter Obi succeed with his disposition towards politics?

2. Can Our Idol Peter ever succeed with his usual self-righteous attitude towards politics?

There is a need for a man to know thyself, tell himself the bitter truths after he might have understood his environment comprehensively. The fact that Nigerian politics has a pattern which evidently has become a convention cannot be denied. The continued denial of this fundamental reality, is the reason why Peter will continue to fail in his bid to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Aso Rock is not the Vatican where few “righteous Cardinals” decide who becomes the Pope!!

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!!

Your Excellency, If you had understood Nigerian politics the way you understand global economics and statistics, Labour Party will not be struggling to survive today under your watch??

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!!

Okwute, if you can think about the good of your fellow politicians and party men the way you think for yourself, Labour Party will not be in this political intensive care unit grasping for oxygen.

I understand that you do not give shishi, but you must play by the rules to succeed. Every game has its rules, so is Nigeria’s politics. If you go to Rome, behave like Romans….even Nigerians who recently went to Rome for Pope’s funeral conducted themselves like the Romans. If you doubt me, go and verify from Lady Bianca Ojukwu.

Your Excellency, why would you allow the Labour Party to be dying away just after one election circle?? This is a sign of weakness from your side. Many of your critics believe that it is because of your selfishness and inability to invest in the people and the party.

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!!!

Your Excellency, this is not the time to rely on unnecessary sensational talks. This is the time to play politics the Nigerian way.

This is not the time to be making self-implicative comments such as “Labour Party will no longer be Transit Vehicle for politicians” when yourself is obviously behaving like someone who is also on transit.

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!!

Your Excellency, it is disgraceful that you cannot find political solutions to the problems in your Party…reaching out for a compromise is part and parcel of political engagements and reengineering.

Julius Abure is not an evil man. If he was, he wouldn’t have given you the platform that made you the hero of the 2023 general election. Sincerely, joining the Labour Party gave a significant value to the party, but until Nigeria’s Constitution is amended for an independent candidacy, the success of candidates will always be projected through the lenses of their political parties.

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!!

Your Excellency, apart from the media noise and the near-success syndrome of 2023, what other legacies will you be remembered for in the Labour Party? Remember that your major opponent built the AD that eventually transformed to APC and he has never left his party till today. In the history of Nigeria’s political party system, Asiwaju will always be remembered; his legacies within the domain of his Party abound. Can we say such about you?

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off!!!

Sir, the world is watching you…
Nigerians are watching you…
The South is watching you…
Ndi-Igbo are watching you…
The Obidients are watching you…
We are all watching to know how you solve the mathematical equation of the internal democracy in your Party before the build up of 2027.

We are also watching to know the wisdom which you will use to approach 2027 politicking. Will you take a pragmatic decision that will produce good results or will you take that old route which will eventually lead to social media sensations and finally, premium tears. The choice is yours, however, you need to know that we all are waiting, hoping and watching.

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off.

I am aware that many will misunderstand this simple and sincere letter.

I am equally aware that the echoes of noise from the Obedients will fill the air without critically analyzing the points I raised. However, I cannot in good conscience remain silent because history speaks, and it speaks very clearly.

Your Excellency, do not allow your light to go off especially now that the whole Nigeria is waiting for you and watching you with keen interest.
