Apple launches iPhone 16, Sept. 9

The moment that Apple fans have been waiting for is finally almost here. The tech giant has confirmed the launch date for the iPhone 16 – and there’s not long to wait!

Apple is hosting an event on 9 September at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, where it is expected to unveil a series of new iPhones and updates to other devices and apps.

The event invite teases ‘It’s Glowtime’, although no further details have been provided.

Despite this, thousands of fans have flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to express their excitement, with one joking: ‘I’m glowing with excitement.’

The event invite was sent out last night, and confirms that the event will take place on 9 September at 10:00 PT (18:00 BST).

This date – a Monday – comes as somewhat of a surprise, with Apple having hosted the majority of its previous iPhone launch events on Tuesdays.

It’s Glowtime. Please join us in person for a special Apple Event at Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park. September 9, 2024 10:00a.m. PT,’ the full invite reads.

Apple’s invite includes the classic Apple logo with a redesigned twist.

An animation sees the logo swirl between hues of blue, purple, orange, and pink, seemingly in reference to the ‘It’s Glowtime’ tagline.

While the reason for this feature remains unclear, it could be a tease for the full release of Apple’s highly anticipated AI system, Apple Intelligence.

At its developers conference back in June, Apple announced a slew of AI features under the umbrella ‘Apple Intelligence’, including a revamped Siri and an integration with ChatGPT.

However, these features will be available only on the latest Apple devices and will be rolled out gradually starting later this year.

The invite also does not give any clues as to the devices we can expect to see.

However, rumours suggest that up to four new AI-powered iPhones could be on the cards.

These are expected to be the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Despite the lack of concrete details, several excited Apple fans have flocked to X to discuss the invite.

‘And just like that the Apple event or rather the iPhone 16 series is happening on 9th,’ one user wrote.

‘Can’t wait to see what the Apple Intelligence will be able to do both on iPhone, MacBook and iPad.’

Another added: ‘Glowtime hints at a major AI leap. Expect Siri to move from assistant to intelligence.

‘This could change everything.’

And one joked: ‘It’s that time of year when I gladly let Apple take all my money.’
