Nigerian cross dresser, Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight and detained by immigration officers late Thursday night while attempting to leave Nigeria. This incident marks his rearrest following a previous attempt to flee the country.

In a dramatic Instagram post, Bobrisky claimed he sustained injuries during an altercation with the officers and accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of being behind his detention. “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote, sparking concern among his followers.

This situation follows an earlier event on October 22, when Bobrisky was intercepted at the Sème border while allegedly trying to escape the country.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky began in April 2024 when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse. Despite being held at Kirikiri Prison, reports suggested he was discreetly moved to a private location after just three weeks. This raised suspicions of bribery, with allegations of a ₦15 million payment made to officials to facilitate his transfer and preferential treatment.

The situation intensified in late September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan leaked an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, sought ₦10 million from him for a presidential pardon. In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, demanding a retraction and public apology for what they termed defamatory statements.

Bobrisky has denied these allegations, insisting he did not make the claims and urging the Falanas to pursue action against VeryDarkMan instead. As the saga unfolds, Bobrisky remains a polarizing figure in Nigeria’s social media landscape, captivating and dividing audiences alike.
