Certificate Scandal: Enugu Gov-Elect Peter Mbah’s NYSC Certificate Fake – DG Ahmed

You can’t go and collect certificate on the street, you can’t go and collect certificate from a hotel

Abuja, NIGERIA— The Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has categorically declared that the Discharged Certificate paraded by the Enugu State Governor-Elect Barr. Peter Mbah is FAKE, saying the Certificate was not issued by NYSC.

There have been controversies regarding the authenticity or otherwise of the said NYSC Discharge Certificate, which Dr Mbah presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest the March 18, 2023 Enugu State governorship election.

Speaking on Arise TV morning show Friday, Gen. Yakubu Dogara vehemently distanced the Scheme from the Discharge Certificate in possession of the Enugu State Governor-elect, Dr. Peter Mbah.

“He came to me and I called my director to confirm the certificate and we discovered that the certificate was fake and I told him…I wonder how elites who have gone to school will resort to black market certificates,” said.

DG said., “You can’t go and collect certificate on the street, you can’t go and collect certificate from a hotel. Everyone knows how we issue our certificate in NYSC we don’t give it in hotel rooms or houses.”

“The governor-elect is a lawyer. I am not a lawyer but I know as the DG of NYSC, I’m fully aware of this case. He came to me, I was frank to him and I told him this Certificate is not from us,” Brig-Gen Ahmed stated.

When told that Mbah had sued the NYSC and its Director of Certification over the matter, the DG queried: “Do you sue somebody on pages of newspaper? As far as I am concerned NYSC has not been sued. I’ve not received any court order or anything.”

The NYSC boss added: “I don’t want to talk much about this.”

Meanwhile, the Enugu state governor-elect, Peter Mbah has filed a case against the NYSC, demanding N20 billion for injuries he claimed to have been inflicted on his person due to the controversies surrounding his certificate.

Recall that controversy surrounding Mbah’s discharge certificate became known publicly in February 2023, when the NYSC, in response to an inquiry by a non-governmental organisation, released a letter stating that the certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission was not issued by them.
