Abuja, Nigeria – The Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on the occasion of his 62nd birth anniversary.

In a message made available to journalists on Wednesday, Dr. Akpoveta lauded Governor Oborevwori as a “passionate leader” whose tenure has been marked by “visionary leadership and a commitment to serve.” The message underscored the governor’s wide-ranging impact across the state’s sectors, particularly health care, which Akpoveta described as a testament to his administration’s transformative agenda.

“On behalf of the Chairman and members of the Governing Board, Management, and Staff of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, I heartily congratulate our dear Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, on his 62nd birthday anniversary,” Dr. Akpoveta stated.

“Your Excellency, you are a passionate leader driven with commitment to serve our people. Your visionary leadership as Governor of Delta State cuts across all sectors of the economy, especially in the health sector, and it is evident for all to see the achievements recorded so far.”

Governor Oborevwori, who assumed office in May 2023, has prioritized infrastructural development, education, social welfare, and health reform. Under his administration, the health sector in Delta State has seen improvements in access to care, funding, and support for health insurance initiatives. The Delta State Contributory Health Commission, in particular, has expanded coverage to more residents and bolstered partnerships with local and international health institutions.

Dr. Akpoveta highlighted these gains, citing the governor’s role in enabling the Commission to fulfill its mandate of delivering affordable and accessible health care to Deltans. He noted that the successes recorded so far would not have been possible without the governor’s unwavering political will and proactive governance.

“As a Commission, we have witnessed firsthand the impact of your support. It has enabled us to deepen health coverage and strengthen service delivery, especially for the most vulnerable populations,” he added.

The Director General concluded his message with a prayer for continued divine guidance and strength for the governor, as he steers the state through another year of leadership.

“I pray that God continues to grant you the wisdom and strength for more impactful years and to continue to lead our dear state to greater heights,” Dr. Akpoveta said.

Governor Oborevwori’s birthday comes amid a period of renewed calls for good governance and service delivery in Nigeria, especially in subnational governments. As the Delta State government marks the governor’s anniversary, many within the state’s public service see it as an opportunity to reflect on the gains and challenges of his administration’s first full year in office.
