The election, conducted through a secret ballot, saw Dr. Daisy Nwaozuzu chosen as the President, marking a new chapter for the association.

The newly elected officials were inaugurated on December 15th, 2024, during the association’s Love Feast ceremony, which took place at St. Mary Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church Hall, located at 36 Forebank Road, Dundee. The event also served as the conclusion of the union’s year-end celebrations, bringing together members for a joyful occasion.

The full list of the new executive members includes:
– Dr. Daisy Nwaozuzu – President
– Barrister Mavis Whytock – Vice President
– Dr. Onyebuchi Onwube – General Secretary
– Mr. Chukwudi Obasi – Financial Secretary
– Mrs. Ginika Akunna – Treasurer
– Mr. Chukwuemeka Egbosinmba – Director of Socials
– Miss Esther Vincent – Assistant Secretary

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Nwaozuzu expressed her commitment to serving the union with diligence, emphasizing unity and collective action. “Let us continue with the team spirit and reap the power of togetherness,” she stated, urging members to focus on promoting unity and overcoming divisive elements. She also reminded the audience of the Igbo philosophy, “Onye ahala Nwanne ya” (Let no one abandon their brother), which emphasizes solidarity and mutual support within the community.
