Asaba, NIGIERIA — Chief Monday Efamehule, the Odabemeze of Owa has described His Royal Majesty, the Obi of Owa, Dr. Emanuel Efeizomor II as an exemplary leader whose style of organizing people has become a model that is worthy of being studied in Nigeria’s institutions of higher learning.

The declaration was made by the Owa-born Chief while speaking to the press shortly after performing this year’s Idu-uje (paying of traditional homage to the king) ceremony at the palace of the traditional ruler at Owa-Oyibu, Ika North East local Government Area of Delta state, Nigeria.

According to Chief Efamehule, the reign of Egbogidi, Obi Dr. Efeizomor II has brought Owa as a kingdom to lime light in Nigeria. In his words; “the Obi started manifesting the leadership stuff in him immediately after his coronation in 1959 as a young man. He became an elected member of the prestigious Western Nigeria house of Chiefs, Ibadan between 1960 and 1963. And without a fatherly guide, he still submitted himself to various leadership courses in institutions of higher learning, both in Nigeria and overseas”.

Continuing, the Odabemeze, a.k.a Obama recalled the numerous stories he has heard about the Owa monarch as a little child. He cited the roles Obi Efeizomor II has been playing in traditional rulers’ councils of Western region, Midwest region/state, Bendel state, Delta state, Delta North and Ika nation of Nigeria. He noted that the monarch’s performance as the mouth piece of his people in these organisations has earned him the respect of many of his colleagues and their communities as they do not fail to consult and tap into his wisdom in resolving critical communal disputes.

The highly revered young, philanthropic Chief of Owa kingdom who stormed the venue of the ceremony in his chieftaincy regalia along with his wife, Mrs. Bridget Efamehule and a retinue of other chiefs, family members and well wishers thanked Obi Owa for finding him worthy to partake in this year’s Idu-uje chieftaincy ceremony. He prayed God to grant Obi Dr. Emanuel Efeizomor II long life, greater grace and the wisdom he requires for the greater roles God has destined him to play in the years ahead towards the betterment of Nigeria.

In the same vein, Barrister Raymond Isitor, the Obi’s legal adviser and the Mbiri-born Professor Gideon Emelue of the University of Delta asserted that the Obi of Owa has become a living legend and a compass capable of leading desiring modern leaders to their success destinations. Isitor pointed the Obi’s numerous accomplishments to include the repeal of the traditional practice in Owa that hitherto bared women from parental inheritance. Professor Emelue on his part recalled how the Owa monarch deployed his wisdom and knowledge to help resolve a community issue that almost tore Mbiri kingdom apart some years ago.
