Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, the Enugu Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, has been awarded the prestigious Digital Transformation Leadership Award by the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

The award was presented during the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, recognizing Dr. Ezeh’s vital contributions to advancing the digital landscape in Enugu State and Nigeria.

The ceremony took place at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium, where faculty members and thousands of students gathered to honor the achievements in digital transformation.

Prof. T.C. Ogbuanya, the Dean of the Faculty, praised Dr. Ezeh for his dedication and efforts in fostering a robust digital ecosystem. He highlighted the success of the recent Enugu Tech Festival 2024, themed “Coal to Code,” which attracted numerous young innovators eager to engage with new technologies.

“Dr. Ezeh’s effort in advancing the digital revolution in Enugu is commendable,” declared Prof. Ogbuanya.

“Under his leadership, we have witnessed transformative initiatives that not only engage our youth but also lay the groundwork for a future where technology drives economic progress. His contributions serve as an inspiration to us all, and this award is a testament to landmark achievements in digital education and innovation.”

In his acceptance speech, Commissioner Ezeh emphasized the crucial role of Governor Peter Mbah in driving the state’s technological agenda over the past two years.

Expressing his gratitude for the award, Dr. Ezeh reaffirmed his commitment to promoting digital inclusion and innovation throughout Enugu.

“Today, we stand at the threshold of a digital revolution,” Dr. Ezeh shared with passion.

“Under the visionary leadership of our dear Governor, His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, we have made significant strides in establishing Enugu State as a top contender in the digital landscape. The support we receive is essential for empowering our youth and enriching our community through technology.”

Dr. Ezeh elaborated on the various initiatives led by the ministry to enhance vocational and technical education in the state, emphasizing the importance of equipping students with the skills necessary for success in a rapidly evolving job market. He noted that digital literacy and technological expertise are essential components for thriving in today’s economy.

The Enugu Tech Festival, a landmark event organized by Dr. Ezeh’s ministry, exemplifies this vision. “Coal to Code” aimed to bridge the gap between traditional industries and emerging technologies, leading to conversations about sustainable energy solutions and the role of technology in shaping the future. The festival showcased innovations and acted as a catalyst for change, gathering thousands of young digital enthusiasts eager to make their mark.
