Enugu LGA Chairman’s 200-Meter Road Project Set For Commissioning

It might sound like one of the too many political gimmicks and manipulation but it could well be described as worse political failure and worse still political lecherous. Never a time in history has a local government chairman tarred 200 meter of road — not 200km — with poor quality work and standard — and invite the State Governor Peter Mbah to officially commission the road.

While other residents of some Local government in Enugu State are thankful of their Council Chairmen for fixing their roads and other projects, the people of Nkanu West LGA, especially Ogirishi Village are gnashing their teeths in regret. Giving the fact that the outgoing Chairman of Nkanu West LGA, Hon. Uchenna Ejim, disappointed them.

According to them, Hon. Ejim, who reportedly claimed he was constructing 3.7km road in Ogirishi Village since the beginning of his 2 years tenure ended up constructing and asphalting 200-meter with already collapsed culvert making it dangerous for use.

According to report, the State Governor who will be representing by his deputy, Bar Ifeanyi Ossai is due to commission the road today.

Some aggrieved members of his kinsmen in Ogirishi village in Obinagu Uwani Akpugo have called out council chairman over the poor and shameful work, saying he did not deserve commendations at all.

Ogirishi Village where the Council Chairman hails from are disappointed in their son. It was learnt that the 100 meter road leads to the personal house in the village.

“He told us he was constructing 3.7km road, but sadly he did tiny portion of Ogirishi village in Obinagu Uwani Akpugo,” a village leader said.

Report says the council chairman is under the searchlights of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission for no visible project compared to two-year monthly federal allocation to the council.

Obinagu Uwani people are lamenting that the out going Chairman did no other tangible project for the community in his two years which has led to serious hatred.

According to them, Hon Uchenna Ejim does not have any respect in this community because he is one of the worse LGA Nkanu West has ever produced who believes that he is above everyone.” This is very unfortunate and disappointing,” he lamented.
