The Enugu Tech Festival 2025 has vaulted Nigeria’s southeast into the national tech spotlight, drawing more than 22,000 participants from across the country in just its first two days. Staged at the Enugu International Conference Centre, the festival is already being hailed as Africa’s largest technology gathering—where government leaders, private sector powerhouses, and a rising generation of innovators are rewriting Nigeria’s digital playbook.

Day One delivered a bold opening salvo. Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, joined by Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Dr. Bosun Tijani and Youth Development Minister Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, struck a unified tone around accelerating digital transformation. State Secretary Prof. Chidiebere Onyia and House Speaker Uche Ugwu added institutional heft to the message: Tomorrow is here—and it’s being built by Nigeria’s youth.

On the private-sector front, Zinox founder and investor Dr. Stan Eke and nightlife magnate Obi Cubana lent high-profile flair. They were joined by Lagos Angel Network co-founder Tomi Davies and tech entrepreneurs Ugochukwu Aronu, Kingsley Eze, Patrick Asuama, and Napa Onwusah. Their presence underscored a rapidly strengthening ecosystem where capital and creativity meet on common ground.

Across sessions and workshops, youth engagement surged. From artificial intelligence and blockchain to fintech and digital entrepreneurship, participants explored the frontier of technology with urgency and imagination. Panels led by young innovators offered a preview of what’s next for Africa’s startup scene—solutions engineered for the continent, by the continent.

Anticipating an even larger turnout for the May 9 finale, organizers are ramping up logistics and security. The closing day will feature pitch competitions, hackathon finals, and remarks from the state government. Hundreds of digital tools—including laptops and tablets—are being distributed to winners, with dozens already awarded and more promised by Enugu’s Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh.

What began as a festival has taken on the shape of a movement. With its inaugural edition already reshaping expectations, the Enugu Tech Festival signals a shift in the geography of innovation. The message is clear: Nigeria’s digital future isn’t just coming—it’s arriving from all directions.
