Umaro Sissoco Embalo, President of Guinea Bissau who also doubles as ECOWAS Chairman, discussed Tuesday in Moscow with President Vladimir Putin of Russia an array of issues including peace resolution to the war in Ukraine.

“I also pass on the message of all 15 countries representing the CEDEAO/ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), to discuss today’s situation of the war between two sister nations – Russia and Ukraine, (to discuss) not only the question of grain and wheat, but the world that is blocked,” the African leader said.

Russia has been leading an operation in Ukraine since February and in September annexed four regions of its neighbor.

The war which has caused thousands of deaths in both camps has also affected prices of commodities around the world.
