Abuja, Nigeria – Furious arguments, abrupt decision, dismay, “anarchy and chaos” could well define the current happening in the ones peaceful palace of His Royal Majesty Igwe Nathan Ogbu, Odenegbo I of Nara Unateze in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State

A storm brewing in the palace that is supposed to run like a fine-tuned machine, maybe unconnected with the late King’s Last Will, investigation revealed.

The result of all the melodrama has created a sense of constant chaos crippling Nara Unateze into anxiety.

Perhaps no one was less surprised when it was reported recently that the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominee for Enugu East Senatorial in the 2023 election, Princess Ada Ogbu, ignited a political firestorm by dishonoring an invitation by Enugu State traditional rulers council to broker peace following the horrendous crisis that has besieged her father’s house in recent years.

Her elder brother, now the crowned King, HRH Igwe Ifeanyi Ogbu Odenigbi II of Nara Unateze and his junior brothers, Mr. Ginikanwa Ogbu and Mr. Brown Ogbu, are at each others throats.

Their father was a renowned king in Enugu State, HRM Igwe Nathan Ogbu who died in 2017.

In February 2022, the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council reportedly received a petition against HRH Igwe Ifeanyi Ogbu by his two brothers Mr. Ginikanwa Ogbu and Mr. Brown Ogbu.

Consequently, the Council set up a Committee headed by His Royal Highness (HRH) Igwe H. A. Edeani, the Chairman of the Nkanu East Council of Traditional Rulers to examine and resolve the empasse.

The Council, held a reconciliation meeting at HRH Igwe Nwatu’s office on March, 15, 2022 , and in attendance were HRH Igwe Ifeanyi Ogbu and two brothers, Mr. Ginikanwa Ogbu and Mr. Brown Ogbu.

The traditional rulers reported that while they were wrapping up, last April, HRH Igwe Ifeanyi Ogbu alleged that his two brothers fabricated falsehood inciting the Unknown Gunmen to kill him. He was said to have presented two documents containing his pictures which were published in “Critics News & Kiu TV” containing very critical and sensitize misrepresentations against him.

The traditional rulers were said have found the life-threatening issue against the Igwe worrisome and decided to invite Princess Ada Ogbu to a meeting to broker peace but she outrightly dishonoured the invitation of the traditional rulers.

According to the report released by traditional rulers, “based on the new development, the Committee invited Mrs. Adaku Aguocha (nee Ogbu) Mr. Ginikanwa Ogbu and Mr. Brown Ogbu, but they did not honour our invitation.”

The apparent brush-off was viewed by some traditional rulers as a worrying sign – the Princess as a cynical politician with zero legislative experience—who have spent her recent years in politics running the APC-skeptical leadership in Enugu State.

In the report submitted to the State Governor, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the traditional rulers said: “the Committee condemned the unnecessary and escalating conflict which has staged the Ogbu family of Nara Unateze in different courts against each other and which has also brought the family name into disrepute on social media, and hereby urges both parties to shun their vicious prides, ego, and make efforts to embrace an amicable and peaceful resolution.

“At our meeting which held on the 12th day of April, 2022, HRH Igwe Ifeanyi A. Ogbu alleged that his two brothers, Mr. Ginikanwa Ogbu and Mr. Brown Ogbu, are planning to kill him by inciting the proscribed IPOB & other organizations against his life based on a fabricated falsehood. HRH Igwe Ifeanyi A. Ogbu presented two documents containing his pictures which were published in one “Critics News & Kiu TV” containing very critical & sensitize misrepresentations against him.

“The Committee found that this is a serious life-threatening issue which has even relegated HRH Igwe Ifeanyi A. Ogbu in fear of even moving freely to his community as his administrative responsibilities require.

“Based on the new development, the Committee invited Mrs. Adaku Aguocha (nee Ogbu) Mr. Ginikanwa Ogbu and Mr. Brown Ogbu, but they did not honour our invitation,” the report said

The mounting turmoil surrounding the Princess’s Senatorial ambition’ is laced with complexity and divergent political theories, the dizzying drama of grapple for power and influence in her father palace that often contradicted basic traditional and cultural norms.

She is allegedly shredding any semblance of order in the palace with seemingly endless round of firings, forced ousters and criticisms of her brother, the King

The expression of this sort of contempt, but the ‘performatively patriotic’ Ada Ogbu did more damage to her candidacy by ignoring the Igwes in that manner.

She rejected the idea of the honoring the invitation because she did not believe it is important to honor traditional rulers, people with firsthand knowledge, custodians of customs and traditions.

In good sense, as a party Senatorial nominee, Ada Ogbu should have put her siblings and the palace at peace before seeking public votes into the rofty red chambers of the federal republic of Nigeria.

To out-stage the Chimaroke Nnamani political dynasty, apart from lack of experience, she will need a whole lot of luck to dig out.

The interlocking crises of the party in Enugu State may not matter, but significantly indisputably, it largely matters because of the combination of wokery and political knife-fighters which have direct and lethal effects on the people,

Meanwhile, Ada Ogbu has on many fora denied any involvement in the chaos, but there are letters that prove otherwise.
