Benin City, Nigeria – The Order of the Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM), Benin Metropolitan Council, recently honored Dr. Bolum Nwachukwu, the National Auditor of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), with the prestigious 3rd Degree Admission and Investiture. Dr. Nwachukwu, alongside other distinguished brothers, was elevated to this rank during a solemn ceremony attended by high-ranking members of the Catholic fraternal organization.

The event marked a significant occasion in the spiritual and leadership journey of the inductees, as 37 new brothers were inducted into the knighthood, and 83 brothers and 84 sisters, including widows, were admitted into the esteemed 3rd Degree after successfully passing their examinations.

During his address, the Benin Metropolitan Grand Knight, Sir Moses Iyasere (KSM), reflected on the significance of the 3rd Degree rank. He described it as a symbol of deeper commitment to the values of charity, unity, and selfless service, both within the Church and society at large.

“The 3rd Degree is a commitment to deeper service and faith,” Sir Iyasere said. “It’s about embracing the call to serve not just in the Church, but in our communities, embodying the spirit of charity and unity that our order stands for.”

The Grand Knight further emphasized the integral role that knighthood plays within the Church. He pointed out that the Order serves as a vital support to the Church, its priests, and the community, through active participation in church activities and charitable endeavors.

In his remarks, Dr. Nwachukwu (KSM) expressed deep gratitude for the elevation. He thanked the Order for the opportunity to deepen his commitment to both his faith and service to humanity.

“The Knights of St. Mulumba is a respected Catholic organization that plays an essential role in promoting social justice, humanitarian efforts, and the advancement of Christian values,” Dr. Nwachukwu stated. “I am honored by this recognition, and I remain committed to upholding the spirit of the Church, never relenting in charity and service to others. This is the Lord’s doing.”

A prominent figure in public service and leadership, Dr. Nwachukwu also serves as the Delta State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC). His dedication to ethical leadership and public service was highlighted during the ceremony, which underscored the alignment of his values with those of the Knights of St. Mulumba.

The Deputy Metropolitan Grand Knight, Sir Austin Chiejina, provided insights into the rigorous requirements for joining the Order. He explained that candidates must be aged between 30 and 60 years, must be practicing Catholics, baptized, confirmed, and communicants of the Church, with marriage being an essential criterion.

“The KSM is a calling to those who are not only devoted to their faith but also willing to serve selflessly and lead with integrity,” Sir Chiejina remarked.

In his closing remarks, the Metropolitan Public Relations Officer, Bro. Kingsley, encouraged practicing Catholics to consider joining the Order, emphasizing that the path to knighthood is open to all who wish to serve God and the Church through moral leadership and dedication.

This investiture ceremony, which recognized the new 3rd Degree members and celebrated the Order’s ongoing commitment to service, serves as a testament to the enduring impact of the Knights of St. Mulumba in promoting Christian values and social justice in Nigeria.
