The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Aguata Local Government Area, has faced a wave of defections, with prominent members of the party joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November 8th governorship election in Anambra State.

This shift in allegiance has been fueled by dissatisfaction with the leadership of the APGA faction led by Charly Nwa Mgbafor, with several key figures citing mismanagement of public funds and lack of progress in governance as key reasons for their departure.

A major highlight of this political realignment occurred during a meeting held by the APC Ekwulobia Ward 1 in Abogwume village, where party members gathered under the banner of “Rescue Mission.” The event was a strategic move to galvanize support and ensure APC’s triumph in the upcoming election. The meeting, which was attended by several political stakeholders, marked a pivotal moment as it witnessed the defection of key APGA figures, including Nze Isaac Okefor Ezenekwe, the chairman of Nze Na Ozo Abogwume village, and Mr. Okechukwu Ezeokoye (Okeyjazz), the vice chairman of Nkono village.

Hon. Ezekafor Ebube (Ebubedike), the chairman of APC Ekwulobia Ward 1, addressed the gathering with a strong call for unity and collective effort. He emphasized the importance of maintaining party loyalty and working diligently to secure a decisive victory for the APC in the forthcoming election. His call for solidarity was met with enthusiasm from the crowd, who expressed unwavering support for the party’s mission.

The defections represent a critical shift in Aguata’s political landscape, as many of those who crossed over from APGA to APC bring with them years of political influence and support networks in their respective communities. The APC, energized by these new members, now has a renewed sense of purpose and a growing base of supporters determined to take Anambra State in a new direction.

As the election date draws nearer, the APC’s growing momentum in Aguata, coupled with its strategic mobilization efforts, positions the party as a formidable contender in the race for Anambra’s top seat. With strengthened leadership, a clear vision for governance, and the support of key political figures from APGA, the APC is gearing up for a robust campaign that aims to secure a bright future for Anambra State.
