A Niger Deltan first class monarch, HRH Emere Emperor JD Nkpe II, Paramount ruler of Alesa-Eleme has been awarded African Medal of Honour by Time Africa International Magazine in a ceremony held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital last Wednesday, February 9th, 2022.
The award is given for distinguished services, is reserved for dignitaries, exemplary members of the public service and other professionals.
HRH Emere Emperor JD Nkpe II, joins a distinguished list of outstanding individuals to have been bagged with African Medal of Honour, a list which includes the famous African individuals.
The award was conferred during a visit to Rivers State by the management team of Time Africa led by Chidipeters Okorie, to seek participation in the principle of the forthcoming event themed “African solutions for African challenges” holding later this year in Ghana.
The King’s leadership, dedication and advocacy, in national and international capacity were recognised with the conferral of the prestigious honour.
He has consistently pointed to the complex, historical, socio-economic inequalities that produce and maintain conflicts, as well as the need to address root causes of conflict to ensure durable peace and development in oil-rich Niger Delta. This perspective is crucial to conflict resolution in Africa.
The monarch award comes in recognition of not only his critical role in shaping his immediate society but also his overall dedication to a just multilateralism that functions to produce people centred and equitable development for all.
