Nigerian Immigration DCI Achonwa nominated for Who’sWho Africa

NIGERIA:  The Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) and Passport Control Officer (PCO), Dr. Achonwa Kelechi Adaku of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Owerri, Imo State has been nominated for the 2023 Who’sWho Africa after she was received Time Africa ChangeMarker Medal recently.

Dr. Achonwa who hails from Isu in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State holds B.Ed, M.Ed and PhD in Counseling Phycology from University of Port Harcourt – Nigeria. She is also a recipient of Immigration Service Award for Excellence.

Presenting the ChangeMarker Medal to her in Owerri Imo State, the Nigerian Editor of Time Africa, Chidi-Peters Okorie said Achonwa’s nomination was based on her personal contributions so far to the success of the public service.

He said the award is in recognition of her positive work outcome and the demonstration of excellence in creating a tangible example for values, commitment and dedication to service.

He said recognitions as organized by Time Africa, contributes to organisational success and provides important insights for talent management, performance management and succession planning.

According to him: “The Who’sWho and ChangeMaker Awards provide an overarching strategy to recognize the achievements of our people, set the tone for diligence, transparency and accountability culture and develop a high performing workforce amongst our public servants.

“The Time Africa Awards are unique in that the honours have been designed for the public to make nominations; the system is free of patronage or political influence and anyone can nominate an African for an honour.”

He hinted that the organization will be hosting Time Africa Public Service Medal, which recognises outstanding servants, adding that the criteria are service excellence to the public; innovation in program, project or policy development and achievement of more efficient processes, improved productivity and better service delivery.

He stated that Time Africa Public Service Medal is a prestigious, recognised award presented to 100 recipients annually, adding that the medal is not reserved for senior officers – it is open to all levels of the public service both in government and private sector.
