Abuja, NIGIERIA — The Nigerian Senate paid tribute yesterday to the late Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, CON, who died on July 27, 2024. In a moving session, lawmakers observed a moment of silence, reflecting their deep respect for the senator’s contributions.

Senator Ubah was renowned for his philanthropy and commitment to human capital development, serving the people of Anambra South Senatorial District with dedication. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), he significantly influenced Nigeria’s energy policy and championed efforts to enhance the nation’s refinery maintenance.

Following the tribute, the Senate adjourned, a customary gesture of respect for a deceased member. A condolence register was opened for senators to share their tributes.

President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences to the Ubah family, highlighting the senator’s impact as both a businessman and a politician. Senate President Godswill Akpabio visited the family in Lagos, calling Ubah’s passing “jolting.”

Senator Ubah’s death has created a void in the Senate, but his legacy will continue to inspire his colleagues and constituents. The Senate plans a valedictory session to honor his life and contributions.

As the nation mourns, we remember his unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents and advancing Nigeria’s energy sector.
