The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has vowed to identify and sanction those responsible for releasing an indecent video of Ms. Comfort Emmanson, also known as Comfort Bob, following a viral incident aboard Ibom Air.
Keyamo condemned the public release of footage showing the female passenger in a state of indecent exposure.
In a statement titled ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: READING THE RIOT ACT ON AVIATION SAFETY AND SECURITY IN REFERENCE TO THE CASE OF UNRULY MS. COMFORT BOB ON IBOM AIRLINE AND RELATED INCIDENTS, he said, “Earlier today, we again woke up to viral videos of a female passenger on Ibom Airline (now identified as Ms. Comfort Emmanson or Comfort Bob) who went berserk and physically assaulted both the flight crew and the ground staff.”
He confirmed the incident occurred on August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air Flight No. Q153 from Uyo to Lagos at about 14:54 hours, following Emmanson’s refusal to switch off her phone during take-off, in violation of international civil aviation regulations.
Keyamo said he had engaged the Commissioner of Police of the Airport Police Command, the DG of the NCAA, the MD of FAAN, and Ibom Air officials regarding the matter.
“Apart from the indefinite flight ban imposed on the said unruly passenger (both local and international) by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the police promptly arraigned her this morning at the Ikeja Magistrates Court for criminal offences and remanded her at Kirikiri Prisons as she could not provide adequate sureties in court,” he revealed.
While acknowledging the need to document the altercation, Keyamo criticised the release of sensitive footage to the public.
“Whilst we support the filming of her recalcitrant behaviour as evidence to prosecute her, what is DEPLORABLE is to release such evidence containing indecent exposure to the public to ridicule her. That is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE to us. We will not fold our arms and tolerate the debasing of womanhood. I have therefore directed that whoever RELEASED that part of the video containing the indecent exposure amongst the staff should be singled out and adequately sanctioned,” he warned.
The minister further directed airlines to intensify staff training on handling volatile situations and announced a joint security meeting next week to improve inter-agency coordination in similar cases.
“For genuinely aggrieved passengers, there are clearly laid-down remedies to address grievances,” Keyamo said, stressing that aviation authorities would continue to impose lengthy flight bans and refer erring passengers to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
His comments come amid outrage by Nigerians over the video which showed the bare breasts of Emmanson amid alteracation with the Ibom Air staff.
Many Nigerians have condemned the handling of the situation especially the now viral video which exposed the bare breasts of Emmanson while the airport security officials were dragging her out of the plane.
