Abuja, NIGERIA — The people of Aboh Kingdom, situated in the heart of Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, marked the final Sunday of the year with a symbolic peace and unity walk across the community.

The event, which began with prayers, commenced at the Royal Palace in Aboh and was led by His Imperial Majesty, Obi Dr. Greg Oputa III. He was joined by his Council of Chiefs, elders, youths, women, and other key stakeholders of the kingdom.

The walk, aptly named “March for Peace and Unity,” featured intermittent prayers led by Obi Oputa III at significant points throughout the kingdom. These special intercessions were aimed at invoking peace, unity, and prosperity for the year ahead.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, the monarch emphasized that the peace walk was part of a broader initiative to foster lasting peace and harmony within the kingdom. He underscored that the event was designed to usher in a new year marked by tranquillity and unity, which he described as vital for the development of the community. His Imperial Majesty assured residents that every effort would be made to promote peaceful co-existence, noting that it was an essential condition for progress and meaningful development in the region.

The monarch further urged the people of Aboh Kingdom to abandon any divisive actions that might undermine peace and stability. He called on residents to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing any threats to the kingdom’s peace, including the activities of individuals or groups attempting to stir unrest. To aid in this effort, Obi Oputa III announced the establishment of an emergency hotline that would allow citizens to report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies, ensuring timely interventions where necessary.

In a poignant moment, the monarch expressed his condolences to a family in the community who had recently lost a loved one due to preventable circumstances. He prayed for the soul of the departed, offering heartfelt sympathy to the grieving family.

Obi Oputa III also took the opportunity to strongly denounce those who seek to incite violence and conflict within the kingdom. He warned that such individuals would soon face the consequences of their actions, as the law would take its course in holding them accountable.

Residents of Aboh Kingdom, when interviewed, praised the monarch’s leadership, particularly his peaceful approach to resolving issues. Many expressed their unwavering support for Obi Oputa III, vowing to back his efforts in advancing the kingdom’s development and improving the economic well-being of the people.

This peace walk serves as a clear demonstration of the kingdom’s commitment to a prosperous and peaceful future, and a powerful reminder that peace remains the cornerstone of development in the region.
