By Kenneth Nwach

In order to contribute in reducing the high rate of maternal mortality in Nigeria, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM) who is also His Royal Majesty, Ihie 1 of Ikwuorie Autonomous community in Ohanku Ndoki Ukwa East Local Government Area, Abia State, King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere established two free specialist hospitals in Abia State and Rivers State to cater for less privileged pregnant mothers in Nigeria.

The free hospital in Abia was established 10 years ago while the second free hospital in Allu port Harcourt was established 3 years ago.

It is common knowledge that women who die during pregnancy are women from poor homes who cannot afford hospital bills and decide to patronize quacks thereby contributing to the high rate of maternal mortality in Nigeria.

Being a man who cares for humanity, the man of God spent huge amounts of resources to establish these state of the art free specialist hospitals. For instance the establishment of free hospitals involves acquisition of lands, importation of hospital equipment, payment of hospital personnel including payment of consultant medical Doctors who are always on ground to perform Caesarean section and normal deliveries.

It will interest the public to know that from registration, ante natal, scan, drugs, test and other medical services and done free of charge.

As if that is not enough, all registered pregnant mothers are being given free delivery kits. They are also fed after delivery in the hospital while King Apostle Chinyere also approved transport packages to all those who delivered in OPM free hospital to enable them to pay transport back to their homes with their babies.

One unique feature about OPM free specialist hospital is that the man of God made it open for Christians and Muslims. There is no discrimination in OPM free hospitals. The hospital is also open for other members from different denominations, therefore the hospital is not for OPM members alone.

It is also common knowledge that OPM free specialist hospital have a blood bank and this entails running generators 24 hours irrespective of high cost of diesel as there is no access to electricity in the free hospital.

Running a project such as the free hospitals is capital intensive. Importation of medical equipment involves huge capital and this is what a single man have been funding alone for more than 12 years without any assistance from Government, NGO, UNICEF, WHO, UN or European Union.

OPM Free specialist hospital is open for partnership. I therefore call on our government to partner with the free hospital to provide electricity to the hospital.

For instance, His Royal Majesty King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere spent huge resources to purchase drugs, Agencies under united Nations such as, UNICEF, WHO and others can partner with the free hospital through the provision of drugs and other technical assistance which will go a long way to assist the hospital.

The NGO’S such as McArthur foundation, Bill and Melinda gate foundation and others can also partner with the free hospital.

You will recall that Apostle Chinyere has established not fewer than 35 OPM free schools, one free school for autism and Downsyndrome, 18 Free estates, State of the art free skills acquisition center, largest rehabilitation center, international scholarships for not fewer than 10,000 less privileged Nigerians who are currently studying various degree courses in Cyprus, United States of America, Canada, Turkey, Benin Republic etc. He has also offered scholarships to many less privileged Nigerians in various universities in Nigeria.
