Police Declares Nurse Prime Suspect In Mohbad’s Death

The Lagos State Police Command has blamed the nurse who treated Nigerian Singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, for his death and has declared her a prime suspect.

The Command stated this during a press briefing in Lagos State on Friday while updating Nigerians on the findings of the special investigation team constituted to unravel the circumstance that led to the Singer’s death.

The Lagos Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, disclosed that although the result of the autopsy conducted on the deceased is still being awaited, the investigation team had covered more grounds to come to a significant conclusion.

The command said the team discovered, based on layers of investigations, that the Nurse who hitherto administered certain medications, including intravenous injection, “went beyond her limitation,” thus leading to the direct or indirect cause of his death.

The commissioner said, “Five suspects have so far been identified and arrested, detained and interrogated on their alleged roles in the sequences of events that led to the death of the singer. The summary is as follows:

“Miss Feyisayo Ogedemgbe is the auxiliary Nurse contacted and invited by Ayobami Sadiq aka Spending, a friend of Mohbad, on 11th September 2023 to treat the singer at the deceased resident in Lekki.

“She later came on Tuesday, 12th September 2023, and administered three different injections, which was believed to have occasioned the chain of reactions that resulted in the direct death of the singer.

“She is a principal suspect in the death of Mohbad. She acknowledged that it was the injections that she administered to the deceased that triggered the reactions, which eventually led to Mohbad’s death.

“Other expert opinions and witnesses’ statements corroborated her admittance. Her actions of administering doses of tetanus toxoid paracetamol intravenous… injection, which was also administered intravenously at Mohbad’s residence in Lekki, immediately triggered the reactions, including vomiting, goosebumps and convulsion that eventually resulted in the singer’s death.

“This Criminal Liability is further heightened, granted in the evidential fact that as an auxiliary nurse, she is not qualified to administer such medications or function as a qualified nurse.

“She also did this in a non-clinical environment and in a professional negligent manner that neglected standard medical protocols”.

Mohbad’s friend, Spending, who invited the Nurse to treat Mohbad, is being “suspected of conspiracy in the death of the singer”, the Lagos Police chief said.

“His action in inviting a person known to him as an auxiliary nurse to attend to the deceased under a known clinical setting occasioned Mohbad’s death, is being held as a conspiracy to commit Felony,” the police added.

The Lagos Police said, at the moment, a total of 26 witnesses have been interviewed, including Mohbad’s father, mother, sisters, brother, wife and manager, among several others.
