Prominent Nigerian Lawyers, Ejiofor and Ejimakor, Face Public Feud Over Forgery Allegations

Abuja, NIGERIA —Nigerian prominent lawyers Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, who have both long been at the forefront of legal defense for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), may have headed in separate directions. Their professional relationship has been rocked by allegations of forgery and falsification of legal documents, raising serious concerns within legal and political circles.

The controversy erupted when Ejimakor allegedly published a falsified list of lawyers purportedly representing IPOB in its unsuccessful appeal against the proscription of the group. This list, which was circulated on social media, controversially included Ejiofor’s name—despite the fact that he had no involvement in the case. In response, Ejiofor has publicly denounced the claims, calling the action an act of deception and defamation.

In a statement made available to Time Africa, Ejiofor issued a stern public disclaimer, calling on Ejimakor to cease all acts of forgery and defamation. Ejiofor detailed his response to the incident, explaining that after noticing the discrepancy, he obtained a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal’s judgment, which arrived at his office on February 14, 2025. Upon reviewing the official document, Ejiofor found that his name was not listed among the counsel involved in the matter, validating his claim that the circulated list was a fabrication.

Ejiofor further promised to make both the first and last pages of the Certified True Copy public, alongside the forged document created by Ejimakor, in order to provide clear evidence of the falsification.

The statement from Ejiofor, dated February 15, 2025, reads:

“Public Disclaimer: Aloy Ejimakor Must Desist From Forgery and Defamation Immediately

“Recall that a few weeks ago, social media was flooded with a falsified list of lawyers who purportedly represented IPOB in its unsuccessful appeal against its proscription, published by Aloy Ejimakor. In his characteristic deceptive manner, Aloy Ejimakor included my name among the list of counsel, which was followed by my clear and immediate disclaimer refuting this false claim.

“Recognizing the irregularity and procedural inaccuracy in his representation, I took the necessary step of obtaining the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal’s judgment. As I suspected, the certified true copy of the judgment – received by my office on February 14, 2025 – contains no mention of my name. This confirms that the list circulated by Aloy Ejimakor was doctored to serve his fraudulent agenda.

“To set the record straight, I will be publishing both the first and last pages of the certified true copy of the Appeal Court’s judgment, which contain the actual list of counsel who appeared in the matter. Additionally, I will republish the forged document released by Aloy Ejimakor, where he falsely inserted my name.

“I hereby publicly call on Aloy Ejimakor to immediately desist from this path of forgery and defamation before it is too late for him. It is beyond comprehension why he would alter official court records to falsely include my name in proceedings I had no involvement in. His intent is clearly to mislead the public and damage my reputation.

“This is not the first time Aloy Ejimakor has engaged in calculated attempts to tarnish my name, both publicly and behind the scenes. I have long been aware of his malicious activities but chose to ignore them. However, this latest fraudulent act has compelled me to conduct a thorough investigation, which has now exposed his criminal schemes beyond any doubt.

“For transparency, I am attaching all relevant documents to this statement. Aloy Ejimakor owes the public – especially Biafrans – an explanation for his deliberate forgery of court records and his ongoing deceitful representation.

“Thank you.”

Signed:
Sir Ifeanyi C. Ejiofor, Esq. (KSC)
