More than two years after they were abducted during the terrorist attack that triggered the Israel-Hamas war, all living hostages have been returned to Israel from the Gaza Strip.

The 20 surviving hostages were released “after 738 agonizing days in captivity,” the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement.

As part of the first phase of the U.S.-brokered peace deal, Hamas has also agreed to return to Israel the remains of more than two dozen hostages who did not survive.

“Our struggle is not over. It will not end until the last hostage is located and returned for proper burial,” the hostage advocacy group said. “This is our moral obligation. Only then will the people of Israel be whole.”
