There was wild jubilation at the weekend as a foundation member of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Dr Chris Okobah along with over two thousand supporters formally defected to the APC at a well attended ceremony at ward two , Onicha Ugbo in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

A former treasurer of the PDP in the area, Mr Justus Elue also joined the APC at the ceremony attended by the APC Oshimili South House Assembly Candidate in the 2023 General Elections, Ogbueshi Sualeze Eluaka and other party stalwarts.

Dr Okobah said the defection was to enable him to realign with the APC in the avowed determination to bring development and progress to the Onicha-Ugbo community as well as tackle the problem of unemployment facing the army of unemployed youths in the community.

He expressed optimism that within the shortest time possible, the governing APC would bring unprecedented dividends of democracy to the Onicha-Ugbo community saying that it was a new dawn for the community insisting that the interest of the people would be brought to the front burner of conversation at the highest level.

Dr Okobah charged the people of the community to close ranks and move enmasse to the APC and take advantage of the different opportunities being provided by the Senator representing Delta North in the National Assembly, Senator Ned Nwoko to empower themselves economically.

Receiving Dr Okobah and his supporters into the APC family, the Aniocha North APC Chairman, Sir Mathew Chinyere said Dr Okobah’s defection to APC was a good omen adding that Dr Okobah would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the conduct of the affairs of the party.

Sir Chinye said the political horizon was bright for the Party and enjoined progressives to work towards the victory of the APC at all levels of governance in 2027.

The ward two Chairman of the APC, Mr Frank Asimoye congratulated Dr Okobah on the bold and well considered decision to join the party saying that his membership of the APC along with his teaming supporters would be an added boost to the fortunes of the Party in the area and Delta North at large in future political engagements.

The APC candidate for the Oshimili South House of Assembly Election in 2023, Ogbueshi Sualieze Eluaka described Dr Chris Okobah as a political colossus and grassroots mobilizer whose political antecedents and pedigree would bring great fortune to the APC.

Ogbueshi Eluaka said the wave of defection into the party was a clear indication of what was coming and urged APC supporters across the state to leverage on the development to continue to work for the success of the party.

Highlight of the well attended event was the ceremonial registration and presentation of APC Membership cards to Dr Chris Okobah, Mr Justus Elue and Mr Sunny Okwuzu as well as several others by sir Chinye and Mr Asimoye amidst tumultuous celebration and exchange of pleasantries by party supporters from across Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State.
