The newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has been named among the continent’s most influential personalities in the 2025 edition of Times Africa Magazine’s Who’s Who in Africa, a prestigious annual compendium that profiles distinguished African leaders, innovators, and nation-builders.

The Who’s Who in Africa compendium, widely regarded as one of the continent’s most credible reference guides on leadership and excellence, describes Turaki as “a visionary public servant, a bridge-builder in national politics, and one of Nigeria’s most respected legal minds whose contributions continue to shape democratic governance across West Africa.”

According to the editors, Turaki’s selection followed a rigorous multi-tiered evaluation involving expert nominations, peer review, and an assessment of leadership impact across politics, law, and public policy. In explaining why he was chosen, Times Africa Magazine noted that his “uncommon blend of political maturity, legal scholarship, administrative competence, and commitment to national unity” distinguished him from hundreds of nominees across the continent.

The publication also highlights his rising national profile, particularly following his election as the National Chairman of the PDP in 2025—a period it described as “crucial to Nigeria’s democratic recalibration.” The compendium praises his leadership style, rooted in consultation, discipline, and inclusiveness, noting that he has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to stabilize complex political structures and inspire confidence among party members and political stakeholders.

Beyond politics, the magazine underscores Turaki’s illustrious legal career. As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, and former Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peace in Northern Nigeria, Turaki is credited with advancing high-level national conversations on peacebuilding, constitutional reforms, and intergovernmental cooperation.

In the profile published on page 235, the compendium further describes him as “a statesman with an unwavering belief in the promise of a united Nigeria, a reformist whose leadership principles embody discipline, integrity, and strategic foresight.” It also references his mentorship of young professionals within the legal and political communities, noting that many emerging leaders consider him an exemplar of ethical leadership.

Reacting to the recognition, senior editors of Times Africa Magazine said Turaki’s inclusion was a reflection of his steady rise as a national figure and his enduring contributions to Nigeria’s governance system. “At a time when Africa urgently needs leaders with clarity, character, and capacity, Turaki represents a generation of public servants who combine policy knowledge with moral depth,” the editorial board stated.

The listing is expected to further elevate Turaki’s continental profile as he embarks on steering the PDP through a critical phase in its repositioning drive. Many observers say the recognition reaffirms his status as one of Nigeria’s most influential contemporary leaders.

With this honour, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki joins a distinguished circle of African statesmen, innovators, and reformers recognised in the 2025 edition of Who’s Who in Africa, marking yet another milestone in a career defined by service, excellence, and leadership.
